Because of the nature of my Ecourse and that it is a supplement to in-person meetings, the majority of the work will be independent. It could be collaborative with other teachers on their campus, however the submissions will be individual. There will be opportunities for asynchronous discussion as the work is completed as well as opportunities for collaboration during the in-person meetings.
Considering that this is a course for adult learners, the resources available will be geared towards higher level learning. In addition, there will also be samplings of tools that could be put to use with their students presented by their colleagues.
When designing courses or any media to be viewed digitally, it is important to keep visuals in mind. Over designing can make the contact and get lost and under designing can lose engagement. Having resources available in multiple modes is always a benefit so that you can reach every type of learner. When coaching teachers, I always insist that we teach students and our peers how to determine if a tool is right for the purpose at hand. I have them consider low-threat learning opportunities that can build the capacity in the tool prior to content being taught. It is also becoming less and less important to teach the specific tool but rather to teach how to navigate new things as they emerge. A design tool will have similar features across the board just like a review game or a word document tool. If we can teach the basics of how to figure things out and navigate the new, then we have better prepared our teachers and students to figure things out and problem solve on their own.
